Look towards finding a job at a restaurant or catering group. Not as much like a Chili's, but at a local fine dining establishment. Signing up to a local temp agency can help find a position as well.

You're only turning 18, so you still have a lot of work to do before you make the big bucks.

learn how to cook, use an oven, stove, fridge, knives,bowls, whisks, learn how to read a cookbook. learn to use measuring cups (learn how to add/subtract) know what different kids of fruits and veggies there are and when they're in season. learn to bake (and not out of a box)

Yea if you're a good pastry chef you can be making almost $250,000 a year. Or at least that's what my friend whose a pastry chef makes. Its really hard work and it takes natural talent.
