		<description>The Culinary Institute of America is the top culinary school in the US, and they have a *fabulous* pastry program. They&#039;re located in Hyde Park, NY, and a lot of their former students work at the best restaurants in NYC and beyond. They also have a campus in Cali, and I think maybe one in Texas. 

They&#039;re very well respected.</description>

		<description>Definitely get your Associate&#039;s Degree versus a Certificate. Zero credits from your Certificate are transferrable to a 4 year school if you should decide to continue (and you should). If at all possible I would recommend a Bachelor&#039;s in Culinary Arts or similar. If your goal is to progress beyond a line cook, you should really look at a Restaurant Management/Culinary Arts degree. Two more years of school, puts you into a $50k or more position with full benefits and advancement opportunity versus an hourly position paying $10-$12 an hour.

New England Culinary Institute in Vermont has a great program.
